Now let’s focus on our recovery, 2022 our focus principle was ‘Commitment’ now as we move into 2023, we will focus on ‘Emotional Intelligence’. The BT states that ‘higher mental and emotional functions’ were sharply affected by our use, so at some point we need to address our true emotional condition if we are to truly improve beyond where we were when we first get clean. Each of our members should make a great effort to acquire the book, Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by years end, both the men’s and women’s meeting will be using these for the entire year as their group study focus books. We can’t improve on what we won’t admit, so from the admission we break free of the denial, and once we achieve a glimpse of freedom, we desire to be freely whole and wholly free. Today is your beginning.
Scared Yet? Well let’s get into it. When Reason and Feelings Collide. What happens? Each of you must now ask yourself a few tough questions. How mature am I emotionally? Does my emotional maturity match my clean time? Am I still clinging to the defect that stunts my emotional growth? (Explain) It needs to have a name. You can begin your quest for freedom by taking the EI test. From that point forward, you will learn to let them help you before they hurt you. Learning to understand emotions and how they function are the new ‘keys to freedom’ to higher mental and emotional functions that have eluded each of us for so long. Emotions can help you and they can hurt you, but you have no say in the matter until you understand them.
The five basic feelings we must learn to understand are (happiness. sadness, anger, fear, shame). It will not be easy, but you will learn or stay an emotional dwarf forever.
The work is yours to do.
